glimpse of down dog
Years ago, it was suggested that I try teaching a lunch hour yoga class at a downtown office. I was giddy inside, despite the input from my trainer peers that had me convinced it would never last. mmm, was it worth my time and energy?
As a teacher, I want to bring more students to the mat, so I headed downtown...we are now on year 10! We have practiced in tiny rooms full of dust and construction. We have played with make-shift props and hand-me-down mats. We have even interwoven some pilates time to try other forms of movement. Ultimately, the students made up their minds...YOGA please!
Recently, the office expanded into a new, amazing facility, and we are now feeling very grateful for a real studio, new mats and props, and even a huge lawn to practice outside when the sunshine calls us. The class has grown, the yoga is working, and we've gone from the mechanics of the poses to chakras and diffused oils! The energy shared and expanded during their twice-a-week practice is priceless.
